Matriculation (the ceremony which admits you to the university) will take place on Saturday 14th October. Please be in college for official Matriculation photographs which are scheduled to take place at 1.30 pm. After these you'll go together to the Sheldonian Theatre next to the Bodleian for the Matriculation Ceremony itself, which mostly consists of exalted members of the university hierarchy (identifiable because they will be wearing much prettier academic gowns than yours) walking around, bowing, and taking their caps off to each other while talking Latin.
You will be expected to wear full subfusc. Just to remind you, this is black suit, white shirt and white bow tie for men, black trousers/skirt, white blouse and black ribbon for women, with an academic gown. If you have a mortarboard you should carry it but any women who have the women's flat cap should wear it. You can add a black jumper or cardigan if it's chilly.
Matriculation is one of the most archetypal of Oxford experiences. Bring your cameras and brave the crowded Turf Tavern afterwards because it's traditional.
Enjoy!
