Graduate scholarships and funding opportunities |
Version 8 - view current page
Living and studying in Oxford is expensive, so one should always watch one's bank balance. Fortunately, there are some sources of government, university and college funding for students.
General information regarding cost of living and funding (including scholarships) for graduate students at Oxford University is available here:
http://www.admin.ox.ac.uk/postgraduate/finance/
There is some information specific to international students available from the International Office:
http://www.admissions.ox.ac.uk/finance/ovseas.shtml
The British Council and Education UK also maintain a database of scholarships, which is available here:
http://www.educationuk.org/scholarships/
In addition to these online resources, there is the tome that is known as the Grants Register - many university libraries that you should have access to (eg Bodleian, Radcliffe Science, Nuffield) have copies - though the most recent copy is the most helpful.
The College provides maintenance grants should you suffer from unforseen financial hardship - for more information, contact the College Secretary (at the time of writing, the secretary is Rachel Pearson). Some scholarships, such as the Senior Scholarship, are provided by the college. College scholarships sometimes also afford the scholar with dining rights. Information on scholarships, when available, are usually posted on the noticeboards in the MCR or opposite the Chapel entrance.
Corpus also provides Academic Expenses grants (for books, etc. -- keep your receipts!) and travel grants for conference/research trips. Academic Expenses grants are claimed once a year in Trinity Term (look out for forms then) and travel grants for academic travel are awarded throughout the year on application (contact the College Secretary).
